Who is a Good Candidate for Dentures?
Dentures are a great option for patients who are missing several teeth throughout an arch or an entire row. If that’s the boat you’re in, then don’t hesitate to schedule a consultation with one of our dedicated dentists in Washington. That way, they can review your dental history, examine your gums and any remaining teeth that you have, and learn about your day-to-day routine. With all of this information, they can help you decide if dentures are the ideal solution.
Types of Dentures
At Today's Family Dental, we’re proud to offer three types of dentures in Washington. Rest assured, we will discuss each one during your consultation. However, if you want to learn more about them in the meantime, you can read on as well.
Partial Dentures
Are you missing several teeth in an arch? If so, we can fill the gaps in your smile (while preserving the natural teeth that you have) with a partial denture. This restoration is held in place with discreet clasps, and everything from the gum-colored base to the prosthetic teeth is custom-made. As a result, yours will look and feel lifelike.
Full Dentures
Full dentures, on the other hand, are ideal for patients who are missing all of their teeth. This type of restoration also has a gum-colored base and lifelike replacement teeth; however, there aren’t clasps. Instead, it’s held in place with natural suction, a special adhesive, or a mixture of the two, which ensures that it doesn’t move unexpectedly.
Implant Dentures
As you may have guessed from the name, implant dentures are where traditional dentures and state-of-the-art dental implants meet. If we decide together that this is the ideal solution for you, then we will strategically place 4-6 dental implants throughout the arch. Then, we will secure the custom denture on top, effectively restoring the strength of your bite and the health of your smile in the process.
The Benefits of Dentures
All these years later, dentures continue to be popular because:
- They look extremely lifelike, leading to improved self-esteem
- They can last for 5+ years with proper care and maintenance
- They are more cost-effective than other tooth-replacement options
- They can replace a large number of teeth seamlessly
- They can be removed, which gives your gums a chance to rest
