Oral surgery isn’t the end; it’s a new beginning for your smile!
It’s normal for people to panic and think the need for oral surgery means their smile has failed them and set them up for a lifetime of pain—but that doesn’t have to be your reality! At Today’s Family Dental, you’re in qualified, caring hands, and we’ll work with you to bring your smile to a state of health you might have thought wasn’t possible. While we’d like to take all the credit, technology helps us make oral surgeries more comfortable and convenient. We’re here to inform you of your options and help you make the right decisions for your oral health.
If you’ve been a part of our dental family for a while, hearing that we like to emphasize preventive care will come as no surprise to you.
However, we’re fully prepared to help our patients recover from oral health ailments. If you require tooth extraction, we will make the procedure as comfortable as possible for you.
Whether it’s due to infection, decay, or to resolve overcrowding, the process doesn’t have to be traumatic, and we’re happy to get you on track to better oral health.
Dubbed “wisdom teeth” because they usually reveal themselves between the ages of 17 and 25, your third molars can erupt in a few different ways.
Up to 90% of Americans experience wisdom teeth impaction, which can cause neighboring teeth to shift, and if these molars partially erupt, you may experience recurring infection.
Wisdom teeth extraction may be recommended to avoid these troubles. The simple truth is, our jaws rarely have the room for these molars and our mouths function fine without them.
If you’ve read our dental implants page, you know why implants are the highest recommended tooth replacement solution by dentists and patients alike—but what does implant placement entail?
The process from start to finish will vary case by case, but we begin by placing a biocompatible titanium post (or a few) into your jawbone. Over time, this will fuse the way a natural tooth root should.
Over time, the post(s) will fuse and become an integrated part of your jawbone structure. Abutments will be placed for traditional implants, then a crown, bridge, or full arch will be secured.
Our practice offers preventive, restorative, and cosmetic services because we pride ourselves on continuous learning and we want you to find all the care you need in one place.
Wherever you’re beginning from, we can help you reach your goals. If they’re extensive, we can create a full mouth reconstruction or rehabilitation plan.
With a comprehensive examination and a clear understanding of what you’re hoping for, we can combine a number of treatments to elevate your confidence and quality of life.
If your jawbone isn’t thick or firm enough for successful implant placement, you may be a candidate for mini implants, or you may be interested in bone grafting.
Bone grafting procedures consist of taking bone from another part of your body (donor bone and synthetic bone are options, too) and adding it to your jawbone.
Within a few months, your jawbone will replace the graft with its own growth. The new, firm bone should hold an implant and continue growing stronger with its placement.
We want your dental appointments to be free from anxiety from start to finish—from the moment you contact us to schedule to the moment you’re heading back to your busy life after your appointment. For your relaxation, we offer flat-screen TVs or music you can focus on while we work.
